In House Customs & International Trade Manager, London

A rare in-house opportunity for an accomplished Customs Professional. This passionate, market leading UK listed FMCG business delivers consistent growth and derives over 30% of its revenues from the EMEA area. They are now seeking to appoint a Customs and International Trade adviser.

You will work with the Head of Indirect Taxes to develop the global customs duties management strategy and ensure it remains consistent with Group Tax strategy. In addition, you will:

•Provide a comprehensive duties advisory service to the business as the Corporate Centre duties specialist.
•Work with the business to identify, assess and facilitate duties opportunities and promoting best practice and knowledge sharing.
•Ensure that the business maintains a high level of compliance with customs legislation.
•Promote best practice and knowledge sharing.

Specific areas to lead strategy and advice include:
•Implementation of mandatory changes to Customs electronic messaging systems;
•Making optimal use of quotas and reliefs
•Internal customs valuation reviews (ensuring compliance with WTO requirements and alignment with OECD guidelines on transfer pricing)
•European restructuring
•AEO
•Global and Business Unit-led supply chain and product innovation initiatives
•Technical negotiations and disputes with Customs Authorities

As the ideal candidate, you will:
-Have a substantial customs and international trade advisory and practical experience, including experience in HMRC (or equivalent) and Practice and/or Commerce.
-Have a sound working knowledge of TP methodology and its interaction with customs valuation.
-Be a self starter with a high level of initiative backed by strong analytical skills.
-Have a commercial approach and understanding of business with the proven ability to influence peers and senior management.
-Have strong communication skills.
-Have the ability to work independently.
-Have the flexibility to travel regularly.
